I wanted to drop a quick note on the G.O.P. delay of the unemplyment extensions recently.
Don’t think that it is only Jim Bunning from Kentucky, rather Bunning is retiring this term so he is the perfect Republican representative to delay a politically favorable piece of legislation for Democrats by the Republicans.
It seems to have worked, people are blaming Bunning independently as opposed to the GOP Senate obstructionism as a whole.
I have basically gone point by point to deconstruct the gentleman’s argument, as it has been the lone argument in support of Tavis Smiley’s behavior that I have seen. In addition, my site was initially referred to by comments of his article in some fashion at theRoot.com.
I tried to contact McAllister via twitter to get a better idea of his thoughts… anyway
(I saw the article “http://www.theroot.com/views/tavis-smiley-was-right/” in my server logs).
In his rush to criticize where the president should assist black people, Lenny McAllister either blatantly ignores the faulty premise of Tavis Smiley’s statements this week or completely misunderstood the problems with Tavis Smiley’s strawman position. Regardless of the reason behind Mr. McAllister’s support of Tavis Smiley, the end result is a position that doesn’t seem conservative at all — support of Tavis Smiley’s unclarified race-based “Black Agenda.”
Further McAllister’s critiques of what the Obama administration are misguided. While I believe PBO needs to be critiqued from all corners, from all ideologies and all people, the critiques should be focused on well-thought out specific policies issues, or executive-level execution rather than idle wishes. Among these idle wishes, policies need to be detailed that will help segments of African Americans as opposed to an undefined race-based “black agenda.” So, without further ado, I’ll examine McAllister’s piece at theRoot.com.
Michael Jordan has made his first (of I assume many) franchise moves and chosen to become the controlling owner of the Charolette Bobcats NBA franchise.
M.J’s purchase is significant for a few reasons:
1.) Jordan becomse the second black majority owner of an NBA franchise, Bob Johnson the previous owner of the Bobcats as the first.
2.) The Bobcats are hugely in debt — with about 150 MM in the hole.
So, M.J’s purchase will really show if he has the business savvy to make it!

“He’s of the belief that blacks are “more devastated” today than they were under slavery because of the rate of abortion in the black community. It sounds an awful lot to me like the Congressman is suggesting that blacks were better off as slaves.” StarkReports.com
“he tries to be respectful” according to him …
Direct Quote:
Rep. Trent Frank: (R-AZ) In this country, we had slavery for God knows how long. And now we look back on it and we say “How brave were they? What was the matter with them? You know, I can’t believe, you know, four million slaves. This is incredible.” And we’re right, we’re right. We should look back on that with criticism. It is a crushing mark on America’s soul. And yet today, half of all black children are aborted. Half of all black children are aborted. Far more of the African American community is being devastated by the policies of today than were being devastated by the policies of slavery. And I think, What does it take to get us to wake up? According to Lynn Sweet at the Chicago Sun Times Desiree Rogers is on her way out as the White House Social Secretary. I think the key question is whether Ms. Rogers is leaving because she wants to, or if she was pushed out following the White House Christmas gate crashers.
“As we turn the corner on the first year,” Rogers told me, “this is a good time for me to explore opportunities in the corporate world.”
Rogers told me it has been “an honor and a privilege to serve this president and First Lady, in what has certainly been a historic presidency.”

All it took was a scandal for David Paterson to acknowledge the fact that he had about a 5% chance of re-election. Beyond that scant chance of re-election pre-scandal, David Paterson consistently wanted to fight the Chi-town Crew as though he had the institutional and media clout to tangle with the POTUS — much less lessor advisers on the Whitehouse Staff.
David Paterson simply was unable to find his own unique identity as New York Governor, and never able to establish a reliable media routine. Granted, New York is absolutely in turmoil, and in some ways Eliot Spitzer lucked out immensely. Spitzer avoided his staff’s creepy staling of opposition leaders, and dealing with the inevitable fall-out from economic difficulty.
Interestingly, here is Al Sharpton’s tweet from a meeting last night with Governor David Paterson, were Sharpton alludes to Paterson dropping out of the NY Gov race:
On the Tavis Smiley Show Van Jones admit 9/11 was a Conspiracy!

My My My…
David Paterson has managed to torpedo his campaign for New York Governor, and by virtue of his belligerence toward the Chi-town crew (Obama-Rahm-Jarrett-Axe) there are going to be some really long knives out to dice him up and fillet him in order grandstand about coruption.
The Governor should have thrown his aide David Johnson under the bus — didn’t he learn from POTUS?
When people choose to do something foolish, you have to encourage them to resign and find a new line of work, if not fire them.
Now, David Paterson isn’t just fighting to stay in the race for Governor, he is fighting to hold onto his chair as Governor.
