Glenn Beck at a new low — attacking 11 year old Malia Obama

admin | May 29th, 2010 - 12:43 am

Glenn Beck reaches a new low by attacking 11 year old Malia Obama — to make matters worse for Beck, this is after he had a little on air tea pity party with Sarah Palin. during the little discussion Palin complained about the “mainstream media,” which employs both herself and Mr. Beck and say that “families were off limits.”

Yet, it’s clear Beck like Limbaugh before him, are willing to attack Democrats families no matter how young, whenever convienent.

Hear Beck’s idiocy here.

Rand Paul Just Answer the Question

admin | May 20th, 2010 - 8:54 pm

Rand Paul believes private businesses should have the right to discriminate against people for the race, religion, and whatever reason they would like. I tried to give Rand Paul the benefit of the doubt on this issue; however, it is clear he is interested in taking a somewhat “principled” but unfortunately incredibly rigid position on property rights. As a result, it’s pretty clear he would have voted against the Civil Rights Act at the time, and if possible seems to be in favor of rescinding sections of the Civil Rights Act today.

Laura Bush is Pro-Choice and Pro-Gay Marriage

admin | May 12th, 2010 - 2:50 pm

This is pretty interesting, Laura Bush is both pro-choice and pro-gay marriage.
I guess this will give the tea party set another reason to dislike George W. Bush.
Also, this is yet another reason Jay Cost got his latest anti-Obama screed terribly wrong.

Newspapers Need to Stop Paying for Opinion Articles

admin | May 12th, 2010 - 2:24 pm

From time to time I write on the economics of paid content on NetNoir.com. As NetNoir.com moves into more regular production of articles and opinion, I have had to deal with the daunting aspects of creating a strong revenue model.  During the course of the research I often read about the struggles that newspapers are having –trimming costs and increasing revenue.

As a result, I think that newspapers really need to focus strongly on providing great local news content, and stop spending significant amounts of money on opinion, even syndicated opinion, which is often the worst type of warmed over mushy opinion.

Instead, newspapers should be allowing local people to talk about local issues, views and ideas in order to improve the integration between the local environment and the newspaper’s service to the community.

More Horrid Jay Cost Anti-Obama Examination of Polls

admin | May 11th, 2010 - 4:30 pm

One of the most annoying commentators on the right Republican, b/c he consistently engages in pseudo analytical analysis (I’ll give an example below), and worse makes ridiculous claims:

“However, I have doubts about President Barack Obama. I have been deeply concerned since March, 2008 that he lacked the proper perspective, experience, and temperament to be President. I hope and pray that my fears will ultimately be found to be incorrect, but they have only grown since his Inauguration. I also wish the Democrats in Congress had chosen their party leaders in Congress in a way that reflected the diversity of their caucus – which is undoubtedly the party’s greatest electoral strength – rather than dole out the leadership positions to the most senior, and most liberal members of the caucus.”

Jay Cost’s Biography as written by himself

Consider this for a few moments — if someone is so certain about “proper perspective, experience and temperament,” shouldn’t they do a better job of articulating what level of these three items they would find acceptable — if only to make it clear what their threshold would be. In my opinion, rather than simply say I disagree with the individual b/c I disagree with their world view and thus the choices they will make, folks like Jay Cost will create an arbitrary threshold — moving the goal posts based on their affinity for a candidate.

So, on to todays helping of B.S. by Mr. Jay Cost: Obama the Polarizer

Lena Horne Dead at 92 Years of Age

admin | May 10th, 2010 - 7:47 pm

Lena Mary Calhoun Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010), Lena Horne was born in Brooklyn, New York and died May 9, 2010, at the NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

Lena Horne hailed from a family of the so-called “talented tenth” as W.E.B. DuBois had termed them — with historical family members on both paternal and maternal sides.  In fact, DuBois recites a lunch room encounter with Cora Calhoun in one of his books — I forget which.  More importantly, unlike so many black actors actresses and entertainers, Horne also dedicated her life to Civil Rights Activism even to the detriment of her career.

  • She refused to preform to segregated audiences
  • She preformed and aided the NAACP, SNCC, and NCNW
  • She also worked with Eleanor Roosevelt to pass anti-lynching laws.

Who’s on Kendrick Meek’s Political Team?

admin | May 5th, 2010 - 4:27 pm

Well it turns out Charlie Crist still has a political life in Florida, and he can push Marco Rubio farther to the right in the general election to keep the Tea Party’s ear.  At the same time, because Crist is governor, he doesn’t need the same level of financing that state-wide lessor known Rubio and Meek need.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Florida Voters finds Crist earning 38% support to Republican Marco Rubio’s 34% and Democrat Kendrick Meek’s 17%. Eleven percent (11%) are undecided.http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections2/election_2010/election_2010_senate_elections/florida/election_2010_florida_senate

I continue to think Meek is the biggest loser in Crists move from R to I.  Meek’s political team needs to get him on the air as much as Rubio and Crist are getting on the air — otherwise he needs to get out of the race so that Crist can win.
