From Frederick Douglass to W.E.B. Du Bois to Coretta Scott King, each black person in America has experienced their own unique rendition of Black History. Every Black child in the United States has, at a very young age, learned or been informed that he or she were part of a larger diaspora of experiences stretching back to the very infancy of the United States.
As such, beyond the experiences of African Americans an overwhelmingly essential component of the collective American consciousness is Black history. By taking a look at some key figures and facts, we all may learn to be proud of those who contributed to Black history and the African Diaspora at large.
