Laura Bush is Pro-Choice and Pro-Gay Marriage

admin | May 12th, 2010 - 2:50 pm

This is pretty interesting, Laura Bush is both pro-choice and pro-gay marriage.
I guess this will give the tea party set another reason to dislike George W. Bush.
Also, this is yet another reason Jay Cost got his latest anti-Obama screed terribly wrong.

admin | May 2nd, 2010 - 2:17 pm

White House Correspondents’ Association dinner President Barack Obama killed – it, poking fun at the press, the cable media and even himself.  Obama even went after the notorious White House gate-crashers and former competitors John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Video from PBS News Hour U.S. Navy Joins Oil Clean Up

admin | April 29th, 2010 - 11:54 pm

BP has finally admitted to the real size of the oil leak, and the estimate that 4 million barrels of oil could potentially be leaked before a relief well can be drilled. The situation has become so bad that the U.S. Navy is now getting involved to ensure that damaged is minimized. The political ramifications are clear, the “drill here drill now,” and “drill baby drill” chants are likely to be seriously diminished in the wake of this environmental disaster.

Endangered Languages Thrive in New York City

admin | April 29th, 2010 - 10:13 pm

Hundreds of languages are in danger of declining, but oddly, in New York City these languages thrive. This is an amazing story, and I’m impressed that the New York Times is beginning to do a fabulous job of integrating video into there online presence — and the video is captivating stuff.

Ken Blackwell Dismantled on Live Television by Jon Stewart

admin | April 29th, 2010 - 8:00 pm
The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c
Exclusive – Ken Blackwell Extended Interview Pt. 1
www.thedailyshow.com

Ken Blackwell former mayor of Cincinnati is probably a very intelligent man, and driven; however, on his interview on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart ended up stuttering and stammering and at a loss to explain the thesis of his own book.  Unfortunately for Blackwell he was dismantled on live television by getting basic facts wrong. This guy was mayor? jeez..

Video of President Barack Obama’s Eulogy of Dr. Dorthy Height

admin | April 29th, 2010 - 7:30 pm

Barack Obama gives the Eulogy for Dr. Dorthy Height -- A civil rights pioneer.

Here's a snap shot of the text:

We are gathered here today to celebrate the life, and mourn the passing, of Dr. Dorothy Height. It is fitting that we do so here, in our National Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Here, in a place of great honor. Here, in the House of God. Surrounded by the love of family and of friends. The love in this sanctuary is a testament to a life lived righteously; a life that lifted other lives; a life that changed this country for the better over the course of nearly one century here on Earth.

Michelle and I didn't know Dr. Height as well, or as long, as many of you. We were reminded during a previous moment in the service, when you have a nephew who's 88 -- (laughter) -- you've lived a full life. (Applause.)

But we did come to know her in the early days of my campaign. And we came to love her, as so many loved her. We came to love her stories. And we loved her smile. And we loved those hats -- (laughter) -- that she wore like a crown -- regal. In the White House, she was a regular. She came by not once, not twice -- 21 times she stopped by the White House. (Laughter and applause.) Took part in our discussions around health care reform in her final months. [Full Text @ whitehouse.gov]
